Ein Autor der NY-Times hat mir etwas voraus: Er war im Mercedes Benz sowie im Porsche Museum und hat sich scheinbar einen Traum erfüllt. Er spricht gar von einer Pilgerfahrt.

Er fand’s wohl ganz geil und wäre am liebsten gleich gerne gefahren. Geht im MB-Museum aber nur mit Voranmeldung.
„I traveled to the museum by train, but left with a strong urge to drive, something from the AMG performance division preferably, but alas, there was no opportunity. I went to the dealership on the bottom floor, but was told test drives must be scheduled about a week in advance.“
Im Porsche Museum geht das einfacher – für circa 140 Euro die Stunde (95 Kilometer) und einer Kaution von 2500 Euro („a 911 for about $165 an hour and up to about 60 miles, but be aware you have to leave a $3,000 deposit“).
